Diet for Abs

If you want flat abs then you will have to take a serious look at your diet. Creating a set of firm 6-pack abs takes more than doing thousands of crunches. What most people don't realize is that doing ab specific exercises will not get rid of that layer of belly fat.

This is the key to getting a set of ripped abs. Burning the excess body fat to let all your hard work show through. Think of it this way. If you have a really nice exotic sports car in your garage and you keep it under a blanket all the time nobody can see it. That's exactly what happens to a set of well defined abs if you don't get rid of the excess body fat. They lay hidden beneath a blanket of fat.

There are three main components to getting a set of killer abs.

1. Regular Cardio/Aerobic Exercise.

2. Core strength training for the entire body.

3. A lean low calorie, healthy diet.

Your diet plays an integral part of getting that firm flat stomach. Your body needs the proper nutrition in order to function at its peak. If you give it what it needs your metabolism will naturally run higher and you will burn more fat.

This does not mean starve yourself or skip meals. This will only cause your body more stress and a body reacts to stress by storing fat for future energy needs.

There are some guidelines you can follow when creating a balanced and nutritionally complete diet. You must set realistic goals about what you are trying to achieve and make a plan to meet those goals. Do not think that you will be able to create killer abs overnight, because it does take time and effort.

The healthy diet guidelines you should follow include:

1. Eat smaller meals more often. Try planning 4-6 smaller meals and snacks during the day.

2. Plan and create your meals the night before. This way you do not have to worry about what you are going to eat. Make sure you always have fresh healthy foods available for you meals.

3. Keep your diet simple. All you are trying to do is cut your calories by eating lean healthy food.

4. Chew your food slowly. Well chewed food is easier to digest.

5. When grocery shopping choose healthy foods. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, low fat meat, fish and chicken without skin, etc. If possible do your shopping at natural whole foods store.

6. Cut out the high fat and calorie foods.

7. Avoid foods and drinks with refined sugars such as sodas, candy, cookies, etc.

8. Fruits and vegetables are your best friends when it comes to losing body fat. Incorporate them fully into your diet plane and try to eat 5 servings of each per day.
